Most "who unfollowed me" apps ask for your Instagram login, which puts your account at risk and goes against Instagram's terms. InstaListDiff does the same job without it. Instagram already lets you download your followers and followings as JSON, so the tool takes those two files and shows you the accounts that don't follow you back. It's free, and I've run it since April 2024.
How it works
You request your data from Instagram's settings, then paste the JSON or upload the files into the two boxes. The page reads Instagram's export format, pulls the usernames out of each list and compares them, then lists every account you follow that doesn't follow you back, each with a link to their profile.
The important part is where that happens. All of it runs in your browser with plain JavaScript. There is no backend and no database, so the lists never leave your device, and refreshing the page clears them. The site is built with Vite and styled with Tailwind.
Search
Nearly all of the traffic comes from Google. I wrote the how to guide and the FAQ on the page around the questions people actually search for, like why third-party unfollower apps are risky and whether the tool is free. In the last three months the site showed up in 7,780 searches and got 280 clicks, mostly for searches like "instadiff" and "list diff instagram".
