Project Overview

Línea del Plata, a new ferry service provider in Uruguay, partnered with Phosphor to build a modern freight booking web application integrated with the Ferry Plus API.
The goal was to simplify the process of booking and managing freight shipments, providing customers with a streamlined, reliable, and efficient digital experience.

The Challenge

Before the project, ferry freight bookings were largely manual and time-consuming.
Línea del Plata needed a custom-built system that could:

• Integrate seamlessly with Ferry Plus, their existing booking platform.
• Provide real-time ferry availability and shipment tracking.
• Offer a clean, responsive user interface accessible across all devices.
• Improve both operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

The Solution

Working as the Front-End Engineer, I developed the entire web interface for the Freight Booking Application translating Phosphor’s designs into a responsive, production-ready UI.

Key Contributions

• Frontend Development: Built the application using React, TypeScript, and SASS, ensuring maintainable, modular, and performance-optimized code.
• Responsive UI Design: Translated Figma and UmbracoCMS layouts into an elegant, fully responsive interface that worked seamlessly on desktop and mobile.
• API Integration: Connected the frontend to the Ferry Plus API, enabling live data synchronization for bookings, schedules, and shipment tracking.
• Real-Time Feedback: Implemented loading and error states with clear, user-friendly feedback during API calls.
• Cross-Team Collaboration: Worked closely with backend developers and designers to ensure accurate data flow and a cohesive user experience.
• Accessibility & UX Improvements: Focused on intuitive navigation and clear visual hierarchy, making the booking flow simple and efficient.

The Result

The successful integration of the Freight Booking Application with Ferry Plus transformed Línea del Plata’s operations:
